Members of Leyton and Wanstead Labour Party were out in force last weekend in Wanstead High Street with a petition to save the accident and emergency and maternity provision at King George’s hospital. Thanks to everyone who signed.
The stall has become a regular Saturday feature in the High Street and is also an opportunity for shoppers to chat with John Cryer MP or one of the Labour team.
The National Health Service is the Labour Party’s greatest achievement. We created it, we saved it, we value it and we will always support it.
Now that our investment and reform have brought waiting lists down, we will create legally binding guarantees for all patients including one-week cancer diagnosis. And we will create a new National Care Service with free personal care for the elderly with highest needs, paid for by cutting red tape in the NHS and local councils. As a starting-point, we will offer free personal care at home for those with the highest needs.
Labour has taken the NHS from poor to good; our challenge now is to ensure that with Labour, it can go from good to great.
